I am writing today in regards to the level of Customer service I have received. To me it has been rather disturbing. The fact that your service has been displayed in such a way. That other companies should be down right embarrassed. Your company and this person "Oleg" to name names. Has shown me an extremely professional amount of customer care. I am beyond happy and have never before witnessed such customer service from another company.
I have used Offline Explorer for many years and am still finding new options. And some of these options would have not been possible with out the personal assistance of Oleg Chernavin . I have never met this person. And have only conversed over email. In my opinion Oleg is a "SuperEmployee" as you may already know.
Thank you, James

Downloaded the updated extension this morning and it works perfectly. :) You guys are great. Lots of companies would have never even responded, but you did so, and updated the extension in a matter of days. Awesome work!

I have corresponded with you in the past and wanted to thank you for
your reply. I will purchase my upgrade this evening (I am having
trouble with the on-line purchase from work).
I'd also like to provide some positive feedback:
I don't have his name in front of me, but I believe I am thinking of
the fellow who developed Offline Explorer. At any rate, the person I
have emailed in the past has always been extremely helpful providing
support (even though at one point it was only for a trial version). I
also very much like the product (I have dial up so it is nice to
download certain sites so I can view them at 'virtual' high speed).
Most of my experience is on UNIX based machines, but I have used a PC
desktop at home for years. I am in the process of switching to
FreeBSD and Mac OSX almost exclusively but will still have a PC around
for 'backward compatibility' (and maybe a few games :-) I am
therefore purchasing the upgrade to OE Pro as I would rather use it
than anything else even though it will not be running on my main
machine. I hope you take this comment properly, it is meant to be
high praise of your product, your support, and ultimately your
company.

In OE I have:
a full time employee
who never comes in late/leaves early/takes vacations
who never gets sick
who never makes a mistake
who never asks for more money
Also, one of the nicest OE capabilities for generating new projects is the "add the next clicked link as a project" button. But I missed seeing it in my first few uses of OE. You might want to put a little more emphasis in this feature.

OE is one of the best applications I have ever used. It is an integral part of my daily operations. And your customer support is outstanding. Oleg is one of the best.
Paul Levine, Network Engineer
Thank you for your amazingly prompt reply! I LOVE TrayIcon. It`s so simple, elegant and effective. And now I know that the support is great, too.
Have a good weekend.

Different software were found to be used to download the contents of web pages. We tried five of these software and the “Offline Explorer” was found to be the best of them, concerning reliability of downloading the entire contents of the web pages, speed of downloading, and ease of use.

I hope this gets to the right person as I have lost my email messages from Eudora, Just wanted to thank the person who responded to the problem of Offline Explorer Pro not processing sites such as

thank you very much for such a efficient and effective response ... obviously Meta Products Software Corporation is a very professional organisation ... I have been watching closley the development of various spidering technology for sometime now and I have not seen one develop into such a good product as Offline Explorer Pro so quickly ...
kind regards

Hi. I`d like to suggest that any link to a file OE doesn`t download should point to the actual internet address, instead of a non-existant file in the temp dir. That way when you click the link it will go out and get it instead of getting a "file not found" message. (Or maybe you could make it so if you click on a link that was not downloaded, OE saves that link for future downloading.)
That`s what I`d prefer anyway. :) The only alternative is to set the do not translate option which would disable offline browsing completely which is not a good solution eh?!
Otherwise I like your utility in every other way. It`s a great replacement for Teleport pro which I used before. Good job.
Michael Shipley
Offline Explorer developer comment: this is very easy to achieve - you need to select "Online links translation" in the Project Properties | Advanced | Links translation. This way, all links that were not downloaded will point to original (online) location. All downloaded links will point to offline.

It is the best software i ever see! It`s the first time i writing a letter to a company about a software beside for a bug. At this point, i found this softwares bug-free, with multiples http protocol to make the download faster.
This is a gold software!

I just purchased Offline Explorer - excellent excellent program! I tried 10-12 other similar programs from Stroud`s and Cnet, and yours is hands down the best. You have all the technical features like server request delays and agent masquerading and almost-regexps AND a beautiful lucid UI. Love the TreeView in the Properties and Options dialogs. All the power of WebWhacker but usable and stable. OE doesn`t bog down on 10,000+ file sites.
One request: I recently mirrored part of MSDN - the XML reference section. Alot of pages reference the W3C standards documents. It would be nice to have a second level control for how deep OE goes into pages on _other_ servers. So I could set unlimited levels on the start server but only 1 level on remote servers. That way I could get copies of the referenced W3C documents without mirroring all of the W3C in the process.
P.S. what kind of upgrade policy do you have? I see 1.2 is in beta.
cheers and thanks,
-brice
Offline Explorer developer comment: Offline Explorer Pro 1.4 adds the feature of "Other server levels" to the URL Filters section.
You can find details on our upgrade policy in the Orders section at our Web site.

Hello,
First of let me say, I love the Offline Explorer. It does everything (well, just about) I want.
One question: Is there anyway to move a completed project out of the OE system and then move it back in? I realize I can copy the subdir where the pages reside. What I want to know is whether I can physically move the pages to another location / drive and still have them be in OE
Thanks, Keith
Offline Explorer developer comment: we added to Offline Explorer 1.4 ability to make backups of downloaded Projects. You can find it at the Tools menu.

I`ve just been working with Offline Explorer 1.1, the only word that comes to mind is "Wow!". This is truly a phenominal product! I`ve already loaded the eval on several salespeople`s mobile machines. I`m very excited to see how this turns out.
One minor question, I noticed you can drag the projects around in the list to sort them -- is there any way to automatically sort alphabetically? We would be dealing with several dozen or hundred offline sites and would rather not have to drag them around all the time :)
Offline Explorer developer comment: this feature was added to Offline Explorer 1.3 version. You have to right-click on a folder and choose "Sort".

My fist impression is that offline browiser is the best download program around. I hope to see linux version soon.

Hello,
I am writing to make a "wish" for Offline Explorer. But before I continue, let me congratulate you on a great program. I am very impressed with the cleanness and implementation of the user interface. I downloaded and tried WebMemo, eCatch, PageSucker, and NetAttache Pro, but none of those holds a candle of OE.
My wish list is this: all the programs that I`ve tried so far to download a web site will follow links. I need something that will download ALL files found at a web site, especially those that do not have any links to them.
Would it be possible to add such a functionality to OE?
I`ll look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance,
Hisham.
Offline Explorer developer comment: this feature is simply impossible to implement, since Web sites do not have ability to list all files they host.
Alex
Best offline browser I`ve ever seen ( much better than Teleport Pro, Black Widow etc.)
Constantin.
Hi,
I use your offline explorer. My opinion it`s best in its category. I like it for real.
Of course, it can be better. So, I`ve got an idea that might be interesting for you.
It would be nice to specify URL filter for each file type separately. Sometimes happens that images in a page are from another server or from higher directory, but I`d like to have them also. I hope you got the point and I hope you`ll like this.
thanks for good program, regards.

Hi MetaProducts,
I`ve downloaded then named software a few minutes ago, and I have to confess: Really great stuff.
Download, installation, configuration, and spidering the first website within less than 15 minutes - that`s the way a truly user friendly piece of software goes. I`m absolutely excited!
Greetings

Hi.
This mail became quite long, but I hope it`s ok.
I sent this as email, rather than using the Web-site form, as I thought the form there might mess up the paragraph layout.
A little while ago, I registered for your program, Offline Explorer. I`ve used it extensively, and I think it`s the best offline browser there is. I`ve tried many other programs, downloaded from the Internet, to find the best one, and I found your to be the best one. There was one other that was also quite good, Webreaper. However, it didn`t have the built-in server that your program has. This meant that quite a number of sites, including e.g. www.lionking.org, it wasn`t able to browse properly. After downloading, when browsing with Internet Explorer (using the filename, since, as mentioned it doesn`t have the built-in server and browser that your program has), many of the pictures were missing. Also, it seems it didn`t parse JavaScript as well as OE. Actually, with earlier versions of OE, it seems it was the other way around. It seemed that OE sometimes could "get lost" in a JavaScript, and not download anything, whereas Webreaper was able to get through, and get the content anyway, more or less. This was actually the case for e.g. www.microsoft.com, and www.intel.com, two of the biggest and most important Web-sites there is (!). Neither of them was OE able to download, the earlier version of it. I didn`t get it completely correct with Webreaper, either, since, because of the lack of the built-in server, the sites weren`t displayed properly, when browsing using the filename. Also, as mentioned, it didn`t get the display correct, at all, for www.lionking.org. So I had Webreaper, which was able to handle the more trickier sites, but didn`t display them right, and OE, which did display them right, but had problems with downloading some, like the above mentioned Microsoft and Intel sites. However, luckily, I downloaded a newer version of OE, and I found that now, it was able to handle JavaScript properly, and it didn`t have any problems with the Microsoft and Intel sites. Finally, I had one program that could download properly, and display it properly. :)
Concerning what I mentioned about built-in server. It seems that for some sites, like www.lionking.org, it`s not possible to display them correctly, using the filename, in Internet Explorer, even if all the files are downloaded. It seems one has to have a server, to display them (or possibly use IE`s cache). Have you found this to be the case, too?
As mentioned, I think OE is the best offline browser there is. It`s very configurable, yet easy to use. Just enter the URL, and off you go. It`s good that it`s so configurable. One may want to have different settings for different places. Some sites may have mostly local info, so one can set it to just use the starting server, or domain, and even if one has a deep level, one doesn`t risk downloading the entire Internet. :) Other places may have many links to other places, so one may want to download from all servers.
Internet Explorer also has some offline browsing capability (using Favorites, making it available offline). But it`s not nearly so configurable as OE. You can`t set URL filters, file filters, etc. Also, it doesn`t display anything about what it does, when one starts a so called "syncronization". Also, OE has the possibility for multiple connections, so it doesn`t have to wait for one server. Etc.
Some problems with the other offline browsers I`ve tried, which made them not a candidate for me, was e.g. a proprietary format for the downloaded pages. Some would download the pages in a proprietary format, which meant you could only use that program to browse them. I didn`t want this. OE downloads the files, as they are stored on the server, so that one can use any browser, if it`s capable to understand the translated file names, to browse the sites. Others would store the pages, with the the content, in archives. However, many pages use resources which are used by many other pages as well, so this meant that information was duplicated, and it was wasteful. So that made them not a candidate, either. One very nice thing about OE, is that you can select if it`s to download a page already present, or to check if it`s newer, etc. This means one can continue to download from a site, and it won`t download files, if they are already downloaded. Many programs doesn`t have this possibility for continuation.
I live in Norway, and like it is in general in Europe, we pay for the use of the phone, even for local calls. As I understand, in USA, in general, local calls are free. So if your ISP can be called with local call, it`s free Internet-access, except for the fixed expenses for phone and ISP. So you can use Internet as much as you like, without it costing anything. Here, it costs about one dollar per hour, in the evenings (the least expensive time). So this means that a program like OE is very valuable here. Not only do you get quick access to files already downloaded (like in USA), but you can also download many files, and then browse them offline, without it costing anything, when you`re offline. :) This is why I`ve been looking for a program like this (and hoping I wouldn`t have to write it myself. I study Computer Science at College, and program C/C++, Java, etc.). Also, I`ve got free Internet-access at the College, with about 10 times the speed of my home-modem (I`ve got 33.6 K modem, whereas at school one usually often get around 30 KB/s, or more. I`ve got peak values at about 100 KB/s, with OE, because of the possibility of multiple connections. :) ). There`s a 10 Mbps LAN there.
Because it`s free Internet at school, and it`s fast, and they`ve got Zip-drives there, I`ve been downloading from the school, and taking it home with 100 MB Zip-discs. However, paradoxically, because it`s not possible to selectively extend downloading of a site, that is, one can`t just follow some links, at least not without a more cumbersome way (more of this below), I`ve found that it often has been burying itself deep in the link structure, and downloading a lot of irrelevant information, I`ve found that by using manual selective downloading, at home, I`ve got the same amount of useful content here, in the same time, even if it`s 10 times faster at school. I could have used the same technique at school, but the amount of manual work, to do it, meant that I often just set it to download to a certain level, only to find that it didn`t even have the most useful parts downloaded, when returning to home and checking it. So I`ve often been using Internet from home, instead. This is unfortunate, since, as mentioned, it`s expensive to use Internet from home, here.
It`s very nice program, but there`s one thing, which may be fairly easy to implement, which would help a lot, and solve the above mentioned problem. as mentioned, one can only set it to download to a certain level, and not to follow just some links. That`s useful if you want to have all up to a certain level. But often, one may want to just follow some links. Also, when browsing a downloaded site, it`s not possible to extend the downloading, without having to enter the new URL for a link, and then any new URLs, etc. This means that, if one wants to download just some parts of a site, it`s useful to have e.g. Internet Explorer at the same site, so that one can follow some links using that (where it gets it from the Internet), and then, if one wants to keep them, enter the URLs in OE, and download it there. However, this means you have to have two programs running, both OE (and possibly an IE window, using OE`s built-in server to browse offline pages), and IE, using the site at Internet. Also, it means that the information gets downloaded twice, once using IE, to and once using OE. It would have been much easier if it was possible to just use OE`s built-in server, for all this. The following suggestion solves all this, and I really hope you`ll consider it. I`ve been using OE a lot, and this would really help.
Sincerely,
TuCows http://www.tucows.com
MetaProduct Offline Explore has become an important part of my life now. After downloading and trying the offline explore I have found peace, in my household. I can download everything that I want then browse it offline. Now nobody compains about taking up the phoneline being online.
There are a lot of offline browser, but believe me MetaProduct offline is best that I have yet to use. I have tried websnake, and blackwidow, but none of them function as well as MetaProducts Offline Explorer. There's no seconding guessing what you're doing, where it's at, and how you can get back to it when you're using MetaProduct. It's not complexs like most offline products, it has every thing placed where you'd think it should go. Instead of looking all over things, the webpage is mapped page to page just like it would if you were online looking at the site.
The Design of MetaProducts Offline browser is built for easy access. The Naviagation looks just like a regular web browser. It has a browser built in to it. That broswer is used for easy offline browsering. There is a file tree that you can seperate projects.
The MetaProducts Offline browser is a steal and you should atleast download it and give it a try. It cost $30 US dollars, and it's a 30 day evaluation of the shareware.

I would like to give some thoughts about Offline and Mass:
Offline Explorer-Great Work!! The only things missing is Folders inside Folders, and the possibility of saving/loading your filelists (Just like Go!zilla)
NICE JOB anyway. Keep Working . THe best is the exellent clean interface and the offered options.
Thanks

Thanks a lot! I`ve already downloaded the file and installed it. I`ll just say again it`s the best software programs I`ve ever bought (and I`ve bought a many!) I can`t recall the other program I had to download websites, but Offline Explorer has always worked flawlessly for me.

I have tried dozens of offline browser tools, to no avail for my purposes. Your product "Offline Explorer" exceeded all other products I`ve tried, by far. One use you may want to add to your reasons for using this product is for creating CD or ID ROM`s of websites. I work for a web company, and often times clients would like a burned copy of their site to be able to pass around to different vendors. The trouble we constantly have is to be able to "remove" backend functionality that would not function on a CD. With this offline browser, I was able to grab the entire website in a static form, perfect for a static CD ROM. Excellent software, I am very impressed.

Offline Explorer is the most efficient online data gathering tool I have ever used. It completely changed the way I do business and has jolted my company’s worth in a very short period of time. To top it off, Metaproducts support is absolutely amazing!!

Hello customer service,
Just a brief note to be passed on to the "boss".
Today I make my second purchase of MetaProducts Software. Again I am delighted with my purchase. Your products are truly outstanding - solid, reliable, don`t clock up Windows with memory leaks, and work 100% as advertised. That`s so nice in these days where many software houses leave the debugging to their clients.
Keep up the excellent work

Your new homepage is a clear improvement. Its bright and organized so you have everything in sight. It also improves navigation.
I would also like to praise Oleg Chernavin for his attention to detail with his work on Offline Explorer. He is always ready with a quick solution to any problem.
Keep on the good work.

OE is, by far, the most powerful retrieval engine I`ve used. Your response time to look at challenging sites and add to the engine is far better than anybody else`s.
John McDonald
The new exec works brilliantly, and so does the default folder. I`m very impressed with the way you respond to my emails and fix problems so fast. I`m sure you get a lot of email, and I know responding to them takes up valuable time. So impressed that I`ve sent a letter to New Zealand PC World magazine to which I subscribe, telling them about it. I read a review of Teleport Pro recently in the mag, but I`ve tried it and OE beats it hands down. Hopefully my letter will be published in the next issue, and you`ll get some good exposure (although I have already read quite a few very good reviews of OE in other publications).
Keep up the great work. Thanks again.

Um..this isnt freeware, its $30 if you visit the page. Fileforum has been lazy lately saying every prog is freeware, this is shareware, but has no nags. With that said, this is a great prog. Everytime theres a new beta I download it, I just love this prog. The author is very nice also, and deserves credit for a truely great prog you cannot find elsewhere. viowatch
