Web Word Count

Web Word Count  1.0

Count words in web pages of whole sites

Web Word Count counts the number of words in Web pages. You can use it to either count all the words in a folder with HTML files or all the words in a downloaded Web site using MetaProducts Offline Explorer.

  • Offline Explorer Projects

When you start Web Word Count it detects whether or not Offline Explorer is installed. If it is installed, a list of downloaded Projects is displayed. (Non-downloaded Projects are not listed on the screen.)

Web Word Count detects words using any one of our 3 Offline Explorer editions: the Standard, Professional and Enterprise Editions. If a project was downloaded by two different editions, only the latest download will be processed.

To start Web Word Count, select a Project and click the Count Words button. After counting all words, there will be a list of files on the right side of the screen that will display filenames and their respective word counts. The total amount of words in all files will be displayed on the status bar below the list.

Map entries on the status bar shows total number of files that belong to the project that was counted. This includes also images, styles, scripts and other files. Usually, the number of Web pages will be less than the number of entries in the map.

  • Folder on a disk

If you have a folder with your site HTML pages or you downloaded a site with another offline browser, switch to this tab to count words. Select a folder you are interested in and click the Count Words button. All subfolders of the selected folder will be also counted.

Web Word Count doesn't display the progress bar with percentage of processed files, but the status bar will show the subfolder being processed now.

  • Export results to a file

You may save the list of files with words count to a comma-separated text file or to Microsoft Excel worksheet. Click the Export button, select the preferred fileformat and choose filename to save to.
